The 18-hole course at Burl Oaks is about to tee off on a breathtaking, cutting-edge transformation, led by the renowned Golf Course Architect, Jay Blasi. With the addition of a 9-hole short course, golf will be partially open during the entire construction period as weather allows, and all 27 holes are expected to fully open in the summer of 2027.

Golf Practice Facilities
With over 320 yards of driving range with target greens, the practice facility at Burl Oaks offers more than 20,000 square feet of bent grass teeing ground. There also is a dedicated short game practice green with a bunker, as well as a large practice putting green.
Club Care and Storage
Golf members have the option to enjoy convenient club care and storage. Whether you prefer to walk or use a pull cart or electric riding cart, golf members who opt for this can find their clean clubs ready to go for them when they arrive for a round of golf.
Pickleball Courts
Two temporary pickleball courts were added in 2024. Members can enjoy pickleball league and casual matches.
Permanent pickleball courts are planned to be added as part of the Golf Course Redesign Project.

The Wenkstern Ballroom
Offering breathtaking views of the golf course, The Wenkstern Ballroom hosts many member and non-member events. The room can accommodate up to 160 guests and is a fabulous choice for weddings, corporate meetings, school reunions, team banquets, special family events, fantasy football drafts, and just about any event you could dream of.

Golf members can enjoy our three golf simulators in the winter—a great opportunity to continue playing the game you love with friends or fellow members.

The Golf Experience
All golfers can find something for them at Burl Oaks. In addition to many golf events, members can enjoy:
Men’s League: The highlight of the golf season for many at Burl Oaks is our Men's League on Wednesday evenings. Two-man teams compete in a nine-hole match against other teams each week. Playing in Men’s League is a great way to connect with old friends, meet new members, have a few laughs, and enjoy spectacular evening golf in MN. The Apres activities may keep you at the club well past dark.
Women’s 18-Hole League: Our 18-Hole Women's League is open to women of all skill levels on Thursday mornings. The league is fun and social, with the formats offering a little more competition than our other leagues. Various team and individual competitions are offered.
Women’s 9-Hole Twilight League: Held on Tuesday evenings, the Women’s 9-Hole Twilight League is a fun league that offers plenty of social interaction with a hint of competition. Women of all skill levels are encouraged to play! Afterward, the group typically gathers in the grill for a relaxing dinner and a glass of wine shared among friends.
Women’s Tuesday Fun Nights: Our Women's Tuesday Fun Nights runs in conjunction with our Twilight League on Tuesday evenings. It is an instructional-based program for the more novice golfer. Our professional staff provides a 1/2 hour group golf lesson for participants, with the option to play a casual 9 holes afterwards with friends. It’s a great way to get introduced to the game of golf in a more relaxed setting.
Offerings for Couples: Burl Oaks is happy to offer fun golf outings for couples! Members love meeting other couples at our Twilight Couples League and our Couples’ Club Championship.
Junior Golf Program: Burl Oaks has a thriving and very popular Junior Golf Program. With an emphasis on fun, the Burl Oaks Junior Golf Program aims to build the kids’ interest in the game while teaching them the basics of the game’s rules, etiquette, and swing techniques.
The Burl Oaks Junior Golf Program begins with a series of skill development clinics that focus on the fundamentals of the game. After completing the clinics, the juniors play weekly on the golf course. These organized play days are held on Monday mornings, with professional staff providing on-course coaching to juniors as they play.
Burl Oaks also offers a PGA Junior Traveling League team for boys and girls aged 9-13 who are looking to play on a competitive golf team.

Easter Brunch: A popular social event, typically occurring around the start of the golf season. The Easter Bunny loves to make an annual appearance!
Mother’s Day Brunch: A wonderful way to celebrate Mom. Delicious food, delectable drinks, and memories to cherish forever.
Santa Brunch: Almost as fun as the North Pole. Offers fun events for kids, including a visit from Santa, as well as a wonderful brunch selection of unforgettable food and drinks.

55 Years of Quality Golf and Companionship
1970
The founder of Burl Oaks Golf Club, Russ Wenkstern, began construction of the golf course as a nine-hole semi-private golf course.
1973
Nine additional holes were added.
1979
Burl Oaks becomes a member-owned private golf club.
1988
Four holes were redesigned, a new driving range was built, several bunkers were added, water hazards were enlarged, and Holes 2 & 10 greens were increased in size.
1991
The members built a new clubhouse overlooking the golf course. The facilities include a member's grill and bar, golf merchandise shop, spacious locker rooms, and a banquet room with a seating capacity for 160 guests.
1993
The maintenance facility was built to provide ample working space for the grounds crew and to house the golf course maintenance equipment.
1997
The driving range and practice facility were redesigned. Tee areas were expanded, and five target greens, two fairway bunkers, and a chipping area were added.
1999 - 2000
Burl Oaks redesigned nine of its golf holes by adding bunkers, enlarging six greens, adding and expanding tee boxes, creating better drainage, and beautifying the golf course by bringing more water into play.
2006
The range tee was expanded by 22,000 square feet, thus, providing a total hitting area of 43,000 square feet. Additionally, a practice chipping green, sand bunker, bent grass fairway, and a bluegrass rough area were installed at the south end of the practice area.
2015
A major bunker renovation project was completed.
2022
Burl Oaks Golf Club was recognized as the Minnesota Golf Association’s Member Club of the Year.
2025
Building on a rich 55-year history dedicated to golf, Burl Oaks Golf Club is approaching a complete course redesign, led by renowned golf course architect Jay Blasi. The project includes an entire 18-Hole golf course redesign, the addition of a 9-hole short course, and improved practice facilities. The course will be partially open during construction, and all 27 holes are expected to be fully open in the summer of 2027.
