The Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland

Touted as “The Home of Golf,” the Old Course at St. Andrews is said to be the world’s oldest golf course. This course was first played during the early 1400s until it was temporarily banned in 1457 by James II, who felt young men should spend more time practicing archery. In 1502, James IV, an avid golfer himself, reversed the ban, and the rest is history.

The Old Head of Kinsale, Ireland

Located along the rugged southern Ireland cliff tops against a breathtaking seascape background and a maze of natural caves, below is the Old Head of Kinsale. This course comprises five par 3s, eight par 4s, and five par 5s with nine holes played along the cliff tops.

Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand

Located on the east coast of North Island, this dramatic par 71 course was designed by golf architect Tom Doak and completed in 2004. Play along the cliff tops 140 meters above sea level against a ridge-and-valley landscape. Stunning drops, deep ravines, crashing waves, rolling hilltops, and lush landscapes come together for an experience like no other.

Quivira Golf Club, Cabo San Lucas, Baja Mexico

Nestled in a secluded Cabo San Lucas beach, Quivira Los Cabos is renowned for its elegant architecture and tranquil scenery. All 18 holes boast a view of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by desert, dunes, canyons, shorelines, rock formations, crashing waves, and cliffs.

 Vidago Palace Hotel, Portugal

Throughout the 19th century, the thermal springs of Vidago were widely regarded as therapeutic and curative for their “radioactive” elements and sodium bicarbonates. In the early 20th century, King Carlos commissioned an architect to build the most luxurious hotel in the Iberian Peninsula. Today, Vidago Palace is home to a Championship 18-hole course split between Oura Valley and Centenary Park.

The Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula: Wanning Hainan, China

This beautiful peninsula surrounded by sea and wishful sunsets present one of the best golf courses all around the world.

Though this golf course was once a watermelon plantation, it was developed to be made into a solid golf course. The entire semicircular course contains three separate curving bays, and the principal attraction of the sea features holes along the water.

This golf course, with slightly undulating terrain, contains 36-hole long courses, making it the perfect spot to spend a golfing vacation at!

Whistling Straits at Kohler: Sheboygan County, Wisconsin

This course can be a bit challenging because of its rugged terrain. However, if you are one to love challenges, this is just the perfect golf course for you. The whistling strait contains two contrasting golf courses that are built near the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

It contains a 36-hole golf course stretching out entirely, a blend of Irish and Scottish. In addition to this excellent golf course, the Straits have an outstanding resort too.

Manele Golf Course: Four Seasons Lanai, Hawaii

Are you a fan of the southern coast of Lanai and breathtaking Pacific views? Say no more! The Manele Golf Course is a fantastic golf course surrounded by natural vegetation, vistas, forests, and lava rocks.

Besides offering stunning views, this 18-hole golf course also has the fantastic resort of Four Seasons nearby.  Even though the course is exclusively only available for members of the resort, it offers an excellent opportunity for novices to practice shots along with impressive vistas.

Kingsbarns Golf Links: St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

The unique quality of the Kingsbarns golf link is that it is set very closely along 1.8 miles of coastline of the North Sea near St. Andrews, Scotland. Playing golf on this 18-hole, 7224 yards long course is every golfer’s dream.

Even though it is relatively new, it has attracted a considerable following, and people absolutely enjoy playing golf here. This Kingsbarns golf course, developed in 2000, is a traditional Scottish course and gives the golfers an experience of a lifetime.

Barnbougle Dune Golf Course: Tasmania, Australia

Located on the northeast coast of Tasmania, this 18-hole course has rugged terrain, and the holes are predominantly present in the coastal sand dunes.

This course is located near the seaside village of Bridport. It has absolutely stellar views and has been rated as the 16th best course in the world by Golf Digest.

This golf course was once just a strip of land lined with a potato farm. Dunes have gained much popularity among golfers and constantly rank in the top lists of golf courses.
